Govind Namdev is an actor. Born in a small town of Sagar (MP) and a graduate from Delhi University, he’s also an alumnus of the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD). He has also taken a short term course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Govind Namdev started his career as a professional theatre actor with National School Of Drama, Repertory Co. (11 years) and then joined mainstream cinema with a debut in David Dhawan's Shola Aur Shabnam (1992).

After that he has gone on to act in a number of well-known films such as Bandit Queen, Virasat, Satya, Kachche Dhaage, Mast, Thakshak, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Pukar, Raju Chacha, Sarfarosh, Satta, Qayamat and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, among others. A versatile and a veteran actor, Govind Namdeo is a recipient of innumerable awards, a proven character artiste acclaimed for his many villainous roles and has a fabulous screen presence completing 100 movies in the year 2015.

For a decade worked as a member of NSD Repertory Company. Throughout this time his acting career flourished through plays. His first play was Tughlak, a direction by Ebrahim Alkaji His other noteworthy plays include Cherry Orchard, Aazar Ka Khwab, Othello, Marco Millions, Andhayug, The Fools and Matta Villas. Govind Namdev’s commercial silver screen break was with Shola Aur Shabnam (1992).
